I do not believe it was self defense because it seems very evident that Zimmerman went after and provoked Martin and in any light it seems apparent that if any self defense was present it would have been present by Martin. This was merely the result of a steryotype. Officer Zimmerman saw Trayvon as a threat because he was an African Amerian wearing a hoodie. That is all. I believe he had absolutely no reason for shooting an innocent child and I honestly believe he should receive a life sentence in prison. He made a foolish action which caused someone to lose their life. I see it no other way. The whole situation disgusts me and even talking about it makes me wonder what kind of worl do we really live in. This goes to show that you never know who's out there. anyone at any time can do something traumatic to you; even if you do nothing to deserve it. It's a shame that things like this happen. I believe that George Zimmerman had no right to shoot at a teenager that had no weapon and should be charged with murder. It is not a right that a young african american man cant wear a hoodie and walk home with out getting questioned but a white young man can. He was doing absolutely nothing wrong, If Zimmerman would have thrown hands it wouldve been more understandable but to shoot the teenager, he is not even a police man he is a security guard. George is obviously a racist man and i dislike him.
-melissa machinMelissaMachinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13162115374959617787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705288101067307833.post-88715940256002308162012-04-26T06:36:10.223-07:002012-04-26T06:36:10.223-07:00Allyson Arias

There are so many variables and accusations made in this case that it is impossible to rule out everything and make a clear cut decision about it without you actually being there and seeing what happened. Do I believe racism had something to do with this case? Yes. Zimmerman followed Trayvon because he was black. He suspected that he had a weapon because he was black. He made all these accusations because he was black. There is no going around it, racial profiling definitely had something to do with this case. But i do not think that is the only and/or main problem here. It's true Trayvon probably looked suspicious with the way he was dressed. And it could be true that he looked older than he was, most African-Americans do. And it could even be true that Zimmerman was protecting himself, we do not know that. But here is what i know for sure, Zimmerman did not have to shoot him. I don't care what really happened there, somebody like Zimmerman should not be carrying a gun to use on anybody he deems "suspicious". Despite what Trayvon looked like or what he was wearing, you do not go around shooting people. I think the real problem is people don't understand how powerful a gun is. With a single bullet, Zimmerman took a life, affected many other lives, possibly ruined his own life, and started a movement. That is the power of a gun. And it's about time we realize who should be holding that kind of power. Now i don't know for sure who started getting violent or who provoked any kind of fight in the first place, no one really does. But all I know is one crucial thing. Nobody should have died that night.Donnell Chohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02206498887357064004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705288101067307833.post-56601306140569664082012-04-24T21:55:36.870-07:002012-04-24T21:55:36.870-07:00Samantha Caraballo

I believe that this was a hate crime. When it comes to white people looking suspicious, the public is able to turn a blind eye on them. When it comes to a black person not doing or looking shady at all, they are accused for almost anything they can put up against them. Zimmerman had wrongly killed an unarmed defenseless teenager, Zimmerman should either be put to death sentence, prison until death or an insane asylum. I say he should be put in the asylum because there must be something wrong with him if he decided to go out his house, beat someone up and then shoot them. He should put to a death sentence because it would be justice but since i do believe in taking someone's life I think he should be put to jail for life with no parole or any benefits a normal inmate would get. It has raised issues in whether or not George Zimmerman was racial or not or whether Travyon Martin really was a threat to Zimmerman.Honestly I dont understand.People get killed everyday, whether your black, white, hispanic, asian etc.So do this mean that for every death that occurs it has to do with race? And the media should not blow things out of porpotion.Yes what Zimmerman did was wrong because killing is a crime and he should be sent to definitely convicted for that, but what I do not believe is that the media should not make this certain case a hate crime whether they really have actual evidence that he was racist. If this case would have been the other way around where the one killed would have been white and travyon was the one guilty one, would this case still be considered a hate crime? Trayvon was carrying an iced tea and a pack of skittles. If George Zimmerman's excuse was that he shot an killed Trayvon out of self-defense he's lying because he even shot him in the back which proves that Trayvon was running away. If Trayvon Martin even did anything to him he still has no right to take away the life of a 17-year-old kid when his life was never in danger. Zimmerman should be charged with murder and sentenced to life in prison for taking the life of an innocent person. Zimmerman's actions were just prejudice ones and there's no doubt about it. Also, Zimmerman's excuse about his gun going off is also very hard to believe.KellyOReillyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06543357104381905230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705288101067307833.post-52009538324626869112012-04-16T19:27:28.417-07:002012-04-16T19:27:28.417-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.KellyOReillyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06543357104381905230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705288101067307833.post-7232139919780207652012-04-16T18:49:52.465-07:002012-04-16T18:49:52.465-07:00Ashley Nelson

George Zimmerman claims that he shot another person in self defense. I believe that he went after Trayvon because he really believe he should not have been in that area. I do believe he is a racist. He should have never gone after him When he spoke to the police they even told him to leave him alone. The interesting point in this case will be when the evidence in this case comes out and proves that he did not shoot him in self defense. There is a 911 call from a neighbor that you can hear in the back cries of help. The interesting part is that both Trayvon's parents and Zimmerman's brother claim to be the one crying for help. I believe that this evidence will be crucial to the case. It will also clear up once and for all if Zimmerman is innocent. Because it they can prove that was the kid's voice then he will be in big trouble.nicole medinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03963560152770106045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705288101067307833.post-90771930589909994572012-04-13T20:12:24.586-07:002012-04-13T20:12:24.586-07:00Trayvon Martin was just a regular teenager harmles...Trayvon Martin was just a regular teenager harmlessly walking around with an Arizona iced tea and a bag of skittles. The man that killed him can be both self defense and hate crime. Self-defense because if I see someone in a hoodie, I would be suspicous BUT I would not have the balls to actually come up to him/her and kill them. Hate crime because the man is racist and was not thinking properly. Yes, the news tells us that the gun went off and it was an "accident". They can be telling us the truth or simply covering it up to protect the murder, who knows. Today's society is way too caught up on to focus on something like that. I believe that it was not right that Treyvon got murdered because of one man's curiousity. But I also believe that if the man thought that the suspicious looking teen was going to stab him or something, then it would sense to protect yourself. This was not a self defense crime; it was a hate crime. The fact that he has "mysteriously" evaded previous charges is due to the intervention of his father, who is a judge. He has tried to make Trayvon look like a killer, so that his son could be found innocent.
If I was a lawyer I would not present that it was all centered around race; though that would come up. This has gone on for way too long and Zimmerman is not arrested yet. They seem to think that this would just die down like everything else that happens in the world; but it won't. Trayvon was a good kid and never did anything to cause trouble. But because he had on a hoodie with skittles and iced ted, it was self defense? Not at all! Trayvon deserves justice because he did no harm to anyone. But, I hope that this man, Zimmerman, would even come to know Christ and that he would allow the truth to flow and that his life would be transformed because of the power of God. Yes, what he did was totally out of line, and it deserves to be punished, but take a look inside yourself and think about everything that you've done to offend or disappoint God, we also deserve to be punished because no sin is greater than another. Instead of us being punished it was Christ. Allow God to deal with this man because that is only way that justice will truly be found. One thing that God detests is hands that shed innocent blood. Let God deal with him.Ms. Ta'Leshahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06629704687572847542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705288101067307833.post-49766806259238293322012-04-07T09:22:55.633-07:002012-04-07T09:22:55.633-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ms. Ta'Leshahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06629704687572847542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2705288101067307833.post-56860797030541488742012-04-06T22:10:57.939-07:002012-04-06T22:10:57.939-07:00The whole predicament with the case has gotten me ...The whole predicament with the case has gotten me utterly enraged. How could someone on crime watch duty shoot and kill an innocent 17 year old boy because he seemed "suspicious"? The last time I checked anyone who is in crime watch duty dose not have the authority nor are prohibited to take physical action and that they relied upon to contact the cops if they suspect abnormal behavior. This is most definitely a hate crime! Just because he had a black hoodie that dise not mean he is a harmful or spiteful person. The only thing Trayvon had in him was an Arizona and skittles. And how would that be self defense for Zemmerman as he stated? He is a compulsive liar, he would do anything or say anything to keep him free from charges or prison. The only person that can close the Trayvon Martin Case is his truth in what really happened that day. I believe that this case was somewhat racially unjust and they would've been resolving it quicker if the situation was vice versa.

Kimberly P :))
G BlockKimberlyyP<3https://www.blogger.com/profile/06499828408046651149noreply@blogger.com
