  1. Kimberly L.C (e-blk) James Mont is a black veteran that that was accused of rapping a women. He spent 25 years in jail before his conviction was overturned. He was released but unfortunately, a member of he Ku Klux Moan threatened his lawyer before his trail. The KKK were a group that hated blacks. I believe he was wrongly accused because obviously their was a background reason to why he was really in jail. I think this is inspirational due to the fact that he took it apon himself to get outof a sticky situation something we all should do instead of depending on people. Civil rifts has improved today though.

James Montgomery was a black man wrongly accused of raping a white mentally challenged woman. He was sentanced to life in jail. The Ku Klux Klan was a group of people that hated blacks and anyone that wasnt white and a member from that group threatened James lawyers at the time. The wrongly accused now are because of the way the law is. Now we have a jury and a system we go about things. We have approved civil righs and we have a lot of better laws to protect everyone. But I do not think that is only black people wrongly accused. It could happen to anyone. Also, people who are actually guilty of something can be found not guilty in trial. For example, the recent Casey Anthony trial she was found not guilty and many people believe she did it. In conclusiion, I believe that being wrongfully accused can be a diffucult thing.

  3. James Montgomery was wrongfully accused of raping Mamie Snow. He was a poor black factory worker and without any evidence he was set up to do prison time for a crime he did not commit. He was sentenced to life in prison but did not accept it. He studied law in prison and found someone to do a medical report which showed that Montgomery did not rape Mamie. She was actually a virgin. A lot of people are wrongfully convicted. Thankfully now we have DNA testing for these things

  4. James Montgomery, a black veteran, factory worker that was wrongly accused of rapping by Mamie Snow, a mentally disabled white woman from Waukegan, Illinois. He spent 25 years in prison because of that. Local Ku Klux Klan members threatened Montgomery's lawyer during the proceedings, the Ku Klux Klan, abbreviated KKK is classified as a hate group.
This was something really sad, at least for me because he spent 25 years in prison for doing nothing and I think that he was really flustered for him because he knew that he was innocent, but on those times they didn’t have the capacity to make proves as we have in this time.

  5. James Montgomery was a black veteran, factory worker and homeowner who was accused of rape. The Ku Klux Klan was an organization in the United States which have advocated extremis reactionary currents such as white supremacy white nationalism, and anti-immigration, historically expressed through terrorism. I think James accusations against him were false, I can`t believe that the jury and prosecutor were so careless to over look evidence that could have set him free to begin with. Yes I believe this story is inspirational because it inspires people to seek the truth. Civil rights has been improve in this nation.

  6. James Montgomery was a black factory worker that was accused of raping a white disabled woman by the name of Mamie Snow. Because of these accusations, James spent more than 25 years in prison before his conviction was overturned and he was released. Members of the Ku Klux Klan threatened Montgomery's lawyer throughout the precedings. The KKK is a group that was ALL for slaves. They disrespected the colored people and wished hatred upon them. I don't think it is right to wrongfully accuse someone of such a horrible crime because many people are innocent. I think that this story IS inspirational and it certainly motivates me to help out there. I do believe our civil rights have increased in quality and skill which is an amazing thing. Thanks to the evidence we need now to find criminals, were better at convicting people.

  7. James Montgomery, an honest & hard-working African American, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the rape of Mamie Snow. After serving more than 25 years, during in which he taught himself Law, Montgomery's desire to prove his innocence saw some light. With a re-examination of the case file and evidence, the unjust conviction was overturned and Montgomery once again became a free man.
The Ku Klux Klan, responsible for the corruption behind Montgomery's conviction, was and continues to be an extremist white supremacist group.
Montgomery's story is not an inspirational one, it is a tragic and shameful one. Along with Montgomery, many people are wrongly accused every year. Montgomery was wrongly accused for he was a successful African American, in whom members of the KKK envied. With this being said however, anyone can be wrongfully accused ! Whether it be corruption in our justice system, or an honest mistake and case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In all, it took time but we have surely improved civil rights in our nation.

  8. James Montgomery was a black military veteran, factory worker, and homeowner. He was wrongly accused of raping Mamie Snow, who was mentally disabled. For his case his lawyer had received death threats from the Ku Klux Klan. theses people are white american males who do what ever they can to ruin and to hurt people who are not white. because he was so wrongfully accused i'd turn it around and sue the state for fault punishment. although it seems like a movie this is a very inspirational. This man went to jail for a number of years but always knew he was innocent so he did what he need to do to get out. We have changed the civil rights in this nation tremendously.

  9. James Montgomery was a war veteran who was wrongly convicted of raping Mamie Snow, and was in prison for 25 years. How he ended up there? Well, the KKK or the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group, sabotaged Montgomery's chance of any freedom. Even today there are wrongfully accused in the United States today, and yes I believe before one is convicted, make sure to give him a fair trial and investigate thoroughly before conviction. Yes, this story is inspirational because when one is determined to clear his name, all the stops are lifted and the motivation never stops. Civil rights have improved tremendously since the time of Montgomery. How? Well now we have hispanics, african americans, or white people serving has court judges, juries, and lawyers. This basically guarantees that no matter where you are from you are given a fair and just trial.(E BLOCK)

James Montgomery was a black Illnois veteran, factory worker, and homeowner who was accused of raping local Mamie Snow, a mentally disabled white woman from Waukegan, Illinois, who laid the claim herself. Founded in 1866, the Ku Klux Klan (also known as the KKK) was a group that was prejudiced against blacks. I believe that James Montgomery is innocent; I believe it was obvious that he was innocent of any crime. I do find this story inspirational, in the sense that Montgomery waited it out; he just took the sentence and took it until he found an attorney that could clear his name. I do believe that we have improved our civil rights; I believe that racism is very minimal, and if any is spouted, we all react with a negative response.

  11. (E:Block):James Montgomery was a Black veteran factory worker and homeowner who was accused of raping Mamie Snow, a White woman from Illinois. The Ku Klux Klan planned to frame him. They also threatened Montgomery’s lawyer and convinced the prosecutors to withhold information from the case. I believe that he was truly innocent. Instead of giving up and doing the worse, he studied law; believing that he could one day get out, while proving his innocence. I mean who would waste their time studying law if they were guilty. I believe this story is very inspirational. I feel that his persistence is very motivating. He didn’t allow people to bring him down, and worked hard for what he wanted. I think we have come a long way with Civil Rights. With leaders like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Rosa Parks, civil rights have been recognized nationally. The nation gets better w/every day.

  13. James Montgomery is a black veteran, factory worker, and a homeowner. James was accused of raping Mamie Snow, a mentally disabled white woman. The Ku Klux Klan was member of a local group who threatened Montgomery’s lawyer during the trial for the weak defense. He was wrongfully accused and I think it is horrible that they can put someone in jail for life with not even having enough evidence to see if it’s true or not. This story is inspirational because James never gave up on proving his innocence. We have improved the civil rights in this nation but we are not perfect so we tend to make some mistakes.

  14. James Montegomery was a black veteran and also a factory worker. He was wrongly accused of raping Mamie Snow, a white mentally ill women, and had to spend 25 years in jail before the conviction was overturned. The KKK was a group of all white men and women that hated all races but their own. They considered themselves better than anyone else. In my own opinion i think the wrongly accused should be reimbursed for all their time lost being in jail, and the people or person that accused them should be the ones who are put in jail. I believe this story is very inspirational, it shows how will and power can overcome anything, to be in jail and learn about law so that you may be freed, is a very good way to show people anything is possible. We have improved civil rights in this nation because now blacks, whites, hispanics, asians and other races can now come together and be equal and free to do as they please.

  15. James Montgomery was a black veteran, homeowner, and factory worker that was accused of raping a woman named Mamie Snow. The Ku Klux Klan is a racist, anti-Semitic movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy. In my opinion I think the wrongfully accused should get rewarded for sticking it out all of those days, months or years they spent in trial or in jail. It is inspirational and it’s really scary to think that things like that happened back in the day. But it is amazing how James Montgomery never gave up and still managed to get out of a horrible situation. We have definitely improved Civil Rights in this nation.

  16. James Montgomery was a black veteran, factory worker, and homeowner. He was wrongfully convicted for the rape of Mamie Snow, a mentally disabled white woman. James Montgomery’s trial took less than a day due to a weak defense, where he was founded guilty and sentenced to life in prison. While in jail, James had a hope to get out of jail so he studied the law. The Ku Klux Klan is a group of ignorant people who are prejudice against anybody who isn’t like them. They are best known as the KKK. Personally it’s sad when the innocent people are wrongfully accused. For example, the recent case pertaining Troy Davis. This story is inspirational because it proves that anything can happen, all you have to do is keep hope alive. In a lot of people’s minds, yes we have improved civil rights in our nation but in my mind not really. No matter what, everybody still has to listen to the “man”.

  17. James Montgomery is a black veteran, a factory worker, and a homeowner who was accused for raping Mamie Snow, a white disabled woman from Illinois. For being accused, he was thrown in jail for 25 years before he was finally released. After he was released, local Ku Klux Klan members threatened James' lawyer and after a trial, James was found guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. The Ku Klux Klan is a racist, anti-Semitic movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy. I think that anyone can be wrongly accused but they should look deeper into the situation because there's been a lot of cases where the person can be innocent. I think this story is inspirational because it shows you that you should always seek deeper into a serious situation like this one. Yes, I think we have improved civil rights in this nation.

  18. James Montgomery was a black veteran, factory worker, and homeowner. He was accused of rape by this mentally disabled white woman named Mamie Snow. They immediately sent him to jail after a weak defense and very short trial (less than a day). To me it is sad and unjust that anyone should go through an imprisonment that long for absolutely nothing. The Ku Klux Klan is a racist, anti-Semitic movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy. This story is definitely inspirational to me. I feel like so much more could've been done for James and it was a shame he innocently stood in jail for that long (22 years). Think as a country we have improved, by far, in civil rights. As the decades pasted, many brave men and women have stepped up to honor there race's. I have so much respect and pride in them and the country I live in today. -Kaffy Gucciardo

  19. This article is about a false accusation of a crime, and how justice was eventually served. James Montgomery was a black veteran, a factory worker and a home owner. The Ku Klux Klan is an extremist right-wing secret society in the US founded to oppose social change and white supremacy through terrorism. My opinion on those who are wrongfully accused is that it is obviously unjust and something has to be done in order to address it. Yes, I believe the story is inspirational because it shows that you can prove a point if you really, truly work hard at it. I do believe we have definitely improved our civil rights and it is much better than it has been in the past times.

  20. James Montgomery was a black veteran, factory worker, and a homeowner who was accused of rapping a mentally disabled white woman, Mamie Snow. The Ku Klux Klan were extremist in reactionary currents such as white supremacy, white nationalism, and anti-immigration. My opinion about the wrongfully accused is that Montgomery's case was reviewed too quickly. The trial took less than a day and the details were not researched neither were they thought out also they just believed Snow without having a real trial. In a way I do think that this story is inspirational because Montgomery believed that he was wrongfully accused and gave it his all to prove to the jury that all of the facts that were given about him were false. I think that we have improved civil rights in this nation.

  21. Mark Gomez G Block... I think that James Montgomery, a black military veteran, factory worker and homeowner needed more evidence against him to convict him. He apparently raped Mamie Snow which was a mentally challenged woman. The KKK was wrong to go after James because like I said, there should have been more evidence. Civil rights are now different because it's is always changing. This is not a very inspirational story because even though he was wrongly accused maybe he actually did it.

  22. James Montgomery was an African American veteran, factory owner, and homeowner. He was accused of raping a mentally disabled white woman from Illinois, Mamie Snow. Montgomery, who was promptly thrown in jail, spent more than 25 years in prison before his conviction was overturned and he was released. The Ku Klux Klan is an organization which has advocated extremist reactionary currents such as white supremacy, white nationalism, and anti-immigration, historically expressed through terrorism. Luckily, Civil Rights have improved and instances such as this are limited, but not inevitable. This story is inspirational, for we aim to be the best everyday in our lives, not have others tarnish our names and reputations. It’s a tragic event to be wrongly accused and I pray one day justice will be served. (E BLOCK)

  23. James Montgomery was an innocent black veteran, factory worker, and homeowner who was accused of raping Mamie Snow, a mentally disabled white woman from Illinois. He was thrown in jail for more than 25 years before his conviction was overturned and he was released. The Ku Klux Klan became a group for white southern resistance to the Republican Party’s Reconstruction era policies that aimed at establishing political and economic equality for blacks. My opinion on this story is simple. I believe they accused this poor man just because of his race. During that time whites believed if something went wrong a black person automatically had something to do with it. This story also shows that if you really set your mind to something and believe in yourself you can prove anything because no matter what the truth always comes out. Lastly, I do believe our civil rights have improved because people of different races, such as blacks, have the right to do things now than they did in the 1920s.

James Montgomery, was a black veteran, factory owner, and homeowner. Montgomery was accused of raping mentally disabled white woman, Mamie Snow and in turn Montgomery was quickly thrown into jail where he served 25 years before his conviction was overturned for being wrongfully accused. the Ku Klux Klan is an organization which advocates extreme ideals such as white supremacy, white nationalism, and any form of anti-immigration. It is sad to see how just because of a person's nationality or skin color it is automatically assumed that said person is at fault for a crime they may have very well never done. This story is inspirational because it shows that by educating yourself and having belief that one can eventually overcome all obstacles. Luckily, Civil Rights has improved and cases such as this one are less likely to be seen in today's nation.

  25. James Montgomery was a wrongly accused black man. He was accused of rape in the early 1900's to ta mentally disabled white woman named Mammie Snow. One of the reasons why the trial failed because it was tampered buy the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan was a terroist society that used violence to promote whit supremecy. I think it is very horrible to/to have someone/to be wrongfully accused but I have no idea how to help in these situations, unfortunatly. Although, I think we still need some help on racism, we have come a long way.

  26. James Montgomery was an African American war veteran that was wrongfully accused of raping a white mentally ill woman by the name of Maimme Snow. During his trial The Ku Klux Klan which is a racist orginization tamperd with the evidence that proved his innocence and threatend Montgomery's lawyer. He was sentenced life in prison and during out that time he studied the law .He reached out to this attorney Luis Kutner to help him re open his case and to prove his innocence. Turns out Kutner found the medical records of Ms. Snow and it proved that she was never raped , in fact she was a virgin at the time of this trial . I feel very strongly about the wrongfully accused and i do think that this story is very inspirational to the innocents dealing with this issue. We have improved civil rights alot throughout the years , and still have more work to do so that this happens less to these wrongfully accused .
