I think learning about our government and how it works is very important to learn because it helps us understand why America is the way it is in history today. Especially around the age of eighteen because thats the legal age we are able to vote in the elections. So if we don't know about our government, then when it comes time to vote we want be completely sure about what we're choosing. Im a Democrat until I get my record deal. Im not wealthy "yet" but I have a pretty nice savings account it's CRAZY!!!!! Believe me. But Uuuuhhh I like Obama.... I have no reason not to like him. The dude is smooth, look how he took out all them Iraqi's. You can't ask for better he has that presidental swag. My goals after high school is to finish what I started and persue my career as a rap artist. Im still doing some thinking but I just might go with my heart in do online college classes and get a degree in BIDNESS... While Im rapping! Lol

I believe understanding how the government works its important for everyone living in the United States. I believe you need to understand the how the government works, meaning what are there good things and their flaws, specially when it comes to the age of 18+ when your eligible to vote. You need to understand what the country needs and what presidents can achieve in this government. I consider my self Democratic because I believe that citizens have to have their own opinion on what they want in their government. I really like how President Obama is running the government because I see that he is a man of his word and he sees what are the REAL problems of the United States, and he certainly listens and tries to help out all those citizens in need as much as he can. After high school my goals are to go to University of Tampa and study Business administration and Marketing.

I believe that right now tih the way how america os and the way economy in america right now is like going down the drian. I am a republican because four years ago Obama pormised us that he could change America and he has done nothing but only atleast bringin the toops back home and extending the unemplyment money. but as a republican im voting for Romney because i know that hes young, he knows alot about the economy, he believes that America will be back on track, and believe that the Lord is gonna help Romney become a great president and be good with the economy. Really do i like Obama and no i dont like him becaus ewhat has he done really for contry after he said that h was gonna chage america and really he hasn't at all. MY goal is to become a sports radio broad caster for any team and for any sport. Also i wanted to study radio broad casting in Miami Dade college for two collge and then maybe FAU or FIU for my last two years and still study radio after Miami dade and study for one fo those universties for radio.

Learning about American Government is very important especially with the society and economy we are living with at the moment. I think it is very important to understand American government because it has to do with what rights we have and the background of our country, politics and other important things. I am neither a democrat nor republican. I do like president Obama. I feel like everything he says he is going to do he is going to compete it to help us Americans. As of right now I have no stable plans as of to what I’m going to do after high school. I definitely want to do two years here in Miami save up money and finish in FSU. I’m seriously considering Miami Dade honors program for two years. I have also applied to FIU and Barry; I have my hopes up for Barry.

I believe that learning about how the American Government works is extremely important in this day and age. If you don't have a clear understanding, you're basically setting yourself up for failure in the long run. If you don't understand it well, you can't blame anyone but yourself if the tables turn. I am a Democrat simply because I stand for equality. I like president Obama. Some people feel that he hasn't really done anything but it takes time. At the end of the day he has accomplished somethings that his predecessors didn't. My goals after high school is to attend 1 of the 5 universities that I've been accepted to in order to pursue a career in Dentistry.

I think learning about government and how it works is very important. Now, that we are about to vote for the first time we should know about how the american government system works. I have not decided whether I’m a republican or a democrat, though I think I lean more towards the republican. I do not have a problem with Obama though when election time comes I do not think I’ll vote for him because I haven’t seen much change in our country except that we’ve extended our debt ceiling. After high school I plan to go to a local university under one of there schools honors programs. After I hope to get into dental school and eventually become a dentist.

I think it’s good that we learn how the government works because believe it or not the government plays a major role in our everyday lives like: how long we go to school, how the quality of the food is that we eat, and most important is how much money we pay for are taxes. I don’t consider myself either Republican nor Democratic because at the end ogf the day we're all humans and no one is perfect or always right. I usually just go with the candidate that is the most beneficial and abiding with my religious beliefs. Obama is not one of my favorite presidents simply to the reason “que no me cae bien” and I don’t agree with most of his ideas. My goal after high school is to go to FGCU to become a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetic) and minor in sports medicine. I plan to go to school full time, have a part time job, and just enjoy life one day at a time. :)

Yes, I do think understanding how the American Government works is important. Especially now the way the economy is. It lets us know what rights we have just incase we are ever in any trouble and some people try to take advantage of us. I really can't say if I'm a democratic or republican. Right now I'm neither. I do like president Obama. I think he's a great president and I appreciate everything he has done for our country. My goals after high school are to attend college. I'm still debating if I want to move back to my hometown in Los Angeles, California or stay here in Miami. I want to study film. I've always enjoyed film and I know a lot of people in California who work in the film industry. I also enjoy acting. It's not an easy thing to do. It's hard to leave your family and friends behind and go back to my other family and my friends out there in California. I'm planning on just doing school and work. Taking morning classes and working from the afternoon to the evening.

Understanding how the government works is very important to learn. Why, so you know whats going on and who to vote for. If people don't know who to vote for, they end up voting for someone that wouldn't be a good president. The government affects our lives. We need to know if the government is taking care of its country and the people in it. I'm not sure if I am a democrat or republican, I rather vote for someone who I feel is going to benefit us. Idk, Obamas alright, I don't agree with some ideas he has. My goals after high school is to go to Miami Dade Honors College, earn my bachelors, and become a physician assistant. I plan on going to school full time and to have a job.

Yes, I do think that understanding the government is important, because you need to know how your country works. Since I am not really sure which party I would agree with more, I decided to register myself as a Liberal. I don’t really like him as a President Obama because he didn’t really do much of anything when the BP Oil spill happened. My goals after high school are to continue in school off the back, get my masters in whatever I want to do because I am not sure on it yet, and start working right after I graduate.

I think understanding today’s government is an important thing to learn. This will help us understand why our leaders make the decisions they do. Without this we may think most of their decisions are irrational and unnecessary. I am a republican. I actually hate talking about politics because it is such a touchy subject for most people and can cause unnecessary fights. Frankly, it gives me a headache. I do not like Obama at all. I have never shown much interest in his political campaign. One of the biggest issues that get me upset is the time and money he has invested in supporting abortion. At the beginning of his term he gave other countries the opportunity to borrow our money (as if we weren’t in enough debt) to build their own abortion clinics. Obama has 2 children that I am sure he loves very much, but then he is telling other parents that it’s “ok” to go kill theirs … NO! My goals after high school are to go to college, study hard, and become an optometry. ☺

Do I think understanding how the government works is important to learn? Yes, it is what dictates our lives. If the government wants to raises the taxes then we will have less money to spend on our self. Am I a republican or a democrat? I have never given it any thought before. I am not sure which party I prefers. Do like Obama? I guess I like him as president. He is trying hard to fix what is wrong with this country. It is hard to do thing in Washington when everyone is trying to move up in the world and no one wants to help one another unless it benefits them self. What are my goals after high school? I will probably go to college. Part of me wants a normal life with a wife and kids. Another part of me wants to be in that 1%. To be rich to have more money then I know what to do with it. For now I am just taking it day by day.

I believe that understanding how the government works is an essential part of our lives since it affects us in almost everything we do and something that becomes necessary as we gain our entrance into the real world. I’m neither a Democrat nor Republican but I just go with the better side or the one that’s focusing on the issues that matter to me. Its not that I don’t like president Obama but I feel let down in that he had so many plans and so much potential but he just left it sitting there and never finished what he started.. Until re-election time came around. And after high school I’m still not sure which college I’m going to attend but I’m going to pursue a career in industrial engineering and then I hope to go for an MBA.

  15. I do believe that understanding the government is important.I believe this because knowing our government helps keeps us informed about our rights and how our country works. When it comes to my official standing in politics I am neither, but that mostly because I don’t know too much about it.However when election time comes around I’m mostly side with the Democratic Party, so yeah… technically I guess that makes me a Democrat(O.o).I do like President Obama, truthfully at first it was because he was black but now its because I truly believe he has the best interest of people in lower middle class,i.e me.Though there are somethings about him i don't agree with.My goals after high school is to graduate with a BFA in Graphic Design.

Government, as defined by the dictionary, is "The governing body of a nation, state, or community." Learning and understanding standing something that controls my nation is very important. As far as picking which side (party) of the government i belong to, i prefer to be Independent but i do agree more with the Democratic party. My feelings toward Obama are very positive. Not only did he create history by being the first African American president, but also ended a war, found and killed one of America's worse terrorists, reformed affordable healthcare, and the list goes on and on. After high school i plan to attend UCF and study psychology and become a forensic psychologist.

I think understanding how the goverment works is really important because you need to know the things that are going on within your goverment and within your state. Also you should understand the goverment to see if they are actually bringing any changes to the state and to know what to look for when time comes to re elect a president. To be honest i dont know if i am a republican or a democrat, i just know when there is someone that can make a change for the better to vote for them because that is what we need a change but, for the better. No, i do not like president Obama. Why you ask, well he talks all about change yet there is none maybe he changed one thing over the four years he has been president but in four years to only change one thing its not making any progress and then when reelcetions come then he starts working on changing things and promising changes again that he doesnt bring to the table in end. My goals after High School is to go to the Miami Dade Honors program and to major in forensic psychology to understand how the mind works.

  18. Marcos Gutierrez, I believe understanding our government is very important for us to learnt, especially around the age of eighteen when we all become legal and start making our own decisions, decisions that affect our country and will affect us and our kids. We should know our own information about the government and have our own opinions about things like if were republican or democrat. Not just vote for someone because that’s who your parents are voting for. I am republican, I believe in small government and leaving more decisions up to the people. My goal after high school is becoming an orthodontist and opening up my own practice.

Why is it important to know about our government? It would be very illiterate to not know about the government that is governing us. With the amount of technology we have to inform ourselves, there is no excuse for us to not have a clue of how our government works or what laws are being passed that will affect us in some point of our lives. We are now reaching a time were we are finally eligible to vote for 2012 Candidates, meaning that we need to have knowledge of who were voting for. I have not decided yet if im Republican or Democratic. My goal after high school is to become a corporate lawyer and own my very own law firm.

I think understanding how the government works is important to learn beacuse we need to be aware of what is going on and if its affecting me or my future. It's something that should be known to everyone not just people that are intrested in politics. I'm a democrat. I do like President Obama because he said their will be change and I do belive that there will be. It takes years to bring America back to the top but Obama has to take care of the previous presidents' mistakes and errors. And it will be up to the next president to also belive and fight for what middle and poor class people are asking for. My goals after high school is to become a successful entrepreneur and to also make my father's business a success.

I think it’s important for people to understand how the government works. I, personally, don’t find interest in politics and the government as I do in science. It’s unfortunate to say, but it’s the truth. However, I hope to find more interest because, like I said, it’s important to know what’s going on in the government especially now that I’ll be 18 and able to vote for the next President. I am a Republican, and although Obama is a Democrat I believe that he has done a fair job as a President. There are many things Obama lacks in, and I just disagree with a lot of his views. After high school, I plan on attending FIU and then seeing my options as far as transferring goes and hope to pursue a career in nursing.

I think that it is important to learn about our government because you should know what is going on in your country. You should know what’s going on because their decisions affect your life. I am a Democrat because my parents are. I like Barack Obama for the fact that he is the first black president of the US. He showed me that I came really live my dream. I also like him because he really cares about the people and do what they want to make our country a better place. My goals after high school is to go to a university and become a pediatrician.

I believe it is important to understand how the government works because it will help young adults like us learn how the government works in our everday lives. I am a reoublican/independent, but i lean more the republican side. I dont like President Obama because he promised many things, like all presidents do, but he did not go through with alot of them. especially his policy on the economy, he has only made the debt even larger. also, not to hate on the guy even more but, probably the biggest acheievement that he has ever made in his presidency is kill Osama Bin Laden. It only took 10 years.... My goals after high school are to go to a college or university in Florida and study either Buisness, Medicine, or Law Enforcement.

You need to be aware of all the issues going on with the government because it will affect your future, and also affect your kids. I'm a republican. I do not like Obama. The biggest thing Obama has done in his presidential term is take down Osama bin laden. I do not give credit to Obama for that, i give it to the troops. Any person with a right mind would have given the OK to kill Osama as well. It doesn't take a good president to do that. Obama has raised our debt. I'm not even into politics that much, but i know these days we should be aware of everything. My goals after high school are to attend FIU and study nursing.

I think in today's fast moving world I think it is very important to understand how the government works. It is important to know how the government affects your everyday life and how your everyday life affects how the government works. I am not a big fan of Obama, he really never really seems concrete with his policies when it come to major issues, he changes them often. to put it simple he seems lost a lot we need a president who knows what he wants and what the country needs. i say i am a republican but i don't really know what that means i just hate democrats. In the future i would like to study business in college.

I strongly believe that it’s important to know how the government works. The government controls our taxes and taxes have to do with the money we make that we worked hard for. The government affects our everyday lives. The government has rules and laws that we have to follow them no matter what. In a way the government tries to keep things organized. To be honest with you I am not sure if I am Republican or Democrat because picking sides is not my thing and before picking sides I have to know about what side I am picking and what are there believes. Another important question I would ask is that if I would pick that side will I stick to it and not switch around. I do like President Obama because I if like he trying to make a difference for the things that matter in life. Examples: Jobs and taxes and I thing the things the most important things to fix because how are people going to support their family’s if they don’t have any jobs to make money. My goals after high school is to go to pharmacy school to become a Pharmacist because I enjoy helping people with things they need like medicine to make sure they get what the people need to survive.

It’s important to understand how the government works. As a citizen of the United States of America, I am entitled to certain rights. I must understand the government because there are policies and laws that could be passed that could affect me and my family. I must protect my rights as a U.S. Citizen. I am a Democrat. I like President, Barrack Obama because he is good with politics and he explains to the world how he would like to make things better for all people not just for a select group of people. My goal after high school is to run track for and bowl for FSU. I also want to study architecture because I am good with math problems and algebra.

I believe understanding how our government works is important to being an involved citizen. Being informed on the current issues that affect us is vital for us to know in order to vote for the best representatives that will share our same beliefs and views. I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat as I don’t know enough about politics to chose a side but hope by the end of this class I will have a better understanding and make a wise chose in the upcoming presidential elections. I don’t know what Barrack Obama has done besides kill Osama Bin laden so I can’t really say if I like him or not. I have big dreams and goals I hope to accomplish in the future but I would never be able to fit in just 100 words.

I like President Obama, i have nothing against the guy. If anything Obama did pretty good if you ask me... he killed Osama Bin Laden!!!! He won my vote. I do believe we should learn about how the government works because it’s going to be important to us later on in life when we have to vote and pay taxes. One of our responsibilities as an adult is to vote and you can’t do that if you don’t know how the government works. Like the different parties and the different bills about health care and raising and lowering taxes. I’m personally a democrat and is all for Obama. I think he’s a great president because he’s done a lot so far and with the little help he has is trying to rebuild the economy. It might look like he’s not getting anything done but truly he is. The way the economy is right now it’s going to take a while for it to get back to normal. So far he has brought all the troops back from the war with is great and he has created a lot more job opportunities which helps people make ends meat. My goals after high school are to go to the University of Central Florida and study computer hardware engineering. My third and fourth year I hope to have an internship somewhere in Orlando so I can get a hands on feel for my line of work and hopefully branch off into a job right out of college.

  31. I feel that understanding how the government works and everything that goes on is important to learn, more specifically because it affects all of us. I do not know much about politics whatsoever, but I hope to learn more throughout the semester. I was raised in a house of Republicans and I am also a Republican. I honestly do not like Obama I feel he promised a lot of change and didn’t follow through as much as he should have. I have nothing against the Democrats I just feel we deserve to have a President that will not only promise everything as Obama did, but to go farther than that and make change happen.

I think it is very important to know how the government works so we can be aware of what is happening in our country since it directly affects us. We first have to learn how the government works so we can be properly informed and understand the issues affecting Americans today. It is important to be informed so we make an educated decision when voting. I am not a Republican or a Democrat but I do like Obama. I hope he is able to follow through in all his plans since he has promised a lot. My plans after high school are to go to college and become a successful entrepreneur.

  33. Understanding how the government works is crucial because as citizens the decisions that are made directly affect us. As voters we have the power to change the current status of our nation because we control who is voted into office. Although I am a democrat, I will vote for whomsoever I believe can turn our economy around and make wise decisions although no candidate is perfect. I admire President Obama not only because he was the first African-American President but because he is very charismatic and is an ideal family man. My goals after leaving Monsignor Edward are to go to the best university ever, UF that is and major in Biology with a pre-medicine specialization track. I aspire to become a pediactric oncologist because I am a 10 year cancer survivor. All I want to do during my life is make a difference and be the change that others want to see.
